2024 TFC - Loose Dogs

Per the TFC's Rules and Policies:
Dogs are only allowed on Stagestop and Lost Park Owners Association's properties and shall be on a leash and under control at all times. They are not allowed on private land leased by TFC.

There was incident where two dogs were running free, not on leashes, around a herd of cattle and young calves, with people fishing Tarryall Creek.

When cattle are harassed by loose dogs, the dogs can get injured by cattle trying to protect their young, or their owners caught in the middle. Below is the Colorado Statues:

2023 Colorado Revised Statutes
Title 35 - AGRICULTURE (§§ 35-1-101 — 35-81-102)
LIVESTOCK (§§ 35-41-100.3 — 35-57.9-104)
Article 43 - BRANDING AND HERDING (§§ 35-43-101 — 35-43-213)
Part 1 - GENERAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE PROVISIONS (§§ 35-43-101 — 35-43-130)
Section 35-43-126 - Dog worrying stock
"Any dog found running, worrying, or injuring sheep, cattle, or other livestock may be killed, and the owner or harborer of such dog shall be liable for all damages done by it."

Also permitting a dog to run at large is a violation of Park County Resolution 95-11-8(a).

Sucker Traps

The traps TFC built have been very effective in catching suckers. We now realize there is a significant population in the lower pond in Lost Park Ranch so we will deploy some of the traps there this year, as well as, in the pond by Stagestop. Your cooperation in this effort is key:
  • Leave the traps in the pond.
  • If you catch a sucker, please do not put it back in the pond.
